This is the second post about my DIY project, Sindum Camera #2 - Learn about the background in this article.

The most important result from this prototype is that the test shot above proved that the problem with the helicoid blocking light in the corners is solved.

Usability is also greatly improved by the addition of the tripod mount and the triple cold shoe bar I designed, which is screwed on using the two tripod holes. The camera can now carry my light meter and a 28mm viewfinder that fits the 65mm lens very well when looking at the entire image in the finder — beyond the 28mm frame lines.

I now have a working and usable camera - what's next?

The helicoid I'm using has a focus range that is much larger than I need for a 65mm lens. I could order a new one that would fit better, and make the needed adjustments to fit it.

I also found that the printed tripod mount is a little fragile. It's also positioned a little too close to the base of the camera, which somehow makes the (rotating) back interfere with the tripod. One option could be to include an Arca-Swiss-compatible recess in the camera, or design an Arca-Swiss bar that can be screwed into the base using the tripod holes. This would give the needed extension without making the camera more difficult to print.

I also found that the press-fit method of mounting the camera to the TOYO back is fragile. I've known from the start that I need to create some kind of bracket to provide a solid, yet removable, joint, but I have yet to find an elegant method.

Also on the to-do list is some kind of grib that will make it more cary-friendly.
